Description

Beautiful, 1961 'Macca' spec, wide nut Epiphone Casino with original case anyone?

This guitar looks the part, there is no doubt. Classic 60s Epiphone burst, setting it apart from its ES-330 stablemates. The colour has faded a little and there are a few bumps and knocks but nothing too substantial.

The neck is in good condition. There is some evidence of the binding on the bass side being replaced, especially towards the body end of the fretboard but the fretboard and frets are in good shape. The headstock is in good condition with a few minor chips.

The hardware shows some discoloration and some very slight pitting.

Plastics are correct and in good condition too.

Electrically everything seems to be correct with some signs of solder joints being disturbed.

The guitar comes in its correct hardshell case.

Acoustically this guitar has a pleasantly warm tone that certainly tips the hat to Gibson’s archtop heritage. Plugged in the guitar runs the gamut from warm neck pickup to a more honky, biting bridge pickup tone.

These Casinos have a worthy place in the electric guitar canon and this example would make a fantastic addition to any collection.
