Description
1961 Fender Stratocaster vintage 60s artist-owned guitar finished in a stunning Fiesta Red relic! The guitar incredibly comes with its original Selmer hard case, hang tag and sales receipt paperwork with matching serial number where it was purchased from Ken Watkinson LTD of Cheltenham, England for £166. The guitar was owned by The Ramrods guitarist Johnny Graham from new and played throughout his career until his death. The Ramrods are known for being the first band of The Rolling Stones founder, Brian Jones, who played sax and guitar for The Ramrods in his native Cheltenham before founding the legendary rock band. Graham can be seen photographed with this guitar in The Ramrods in various photos from the early 60s.

It is virtually impossible to find a pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster with full verifiable history to its original artist owner with original serial number matching hang tag and sales receipt present along with its original hard case!

Graham's death was covered by the international press and every major guitar magazine, as he was buried in a giant 12-foot replica Stratocaster coffin escorted by the limousine of Marshall Amplification founder, Dr. Jim Marshall. The guitar's original Selmer hard case is adorned with incredible artwork from the period, and this example is easily the most interesting early 60s Stratocaster we have ever seen and with the very best provenance a collector could possibly hope to have. The guitar was originally a rare Fiesta Red finish and had been refinished to white by Graham later in his career and then commissioned to be restored back to a Fiesta Red relic finish by Pete Lewis of Lewis Guitar Works after Graham's passing. The guitar came to us directly from the agent appointed by Graham's widow.
