Product Details
This is an exceptional Watkins Copicat Valve Echo circa 1961. Model EK320 "Flip Top"
This is an earlier machine with Marriott heads.
Fully serviced, all out-of-tolerance caps and resistors changed ( 7 capacitors and 2 resistors and bottom grill), New jockey arm spring and serviced. It has a new earthed mains lead, PAT tested and with original footswitch.
We would describe this unit as being in excellent condition for the year.
210-240v unit.
Functions as it should, and it truly sounds amazing. With the original slipcover,
Very interesting history, one original owner who was a member of "The Dynamites" a 60's Welsh pop band (Ammanford we belive),
There is a very cool story about its purchase along with three Vox AC-30s direct from JMI in Dartford Kent.
So, after visiting the JMI factory they were innocently heading back to Wales and while driving across London they got stopped by the police no less than 8 times!
The reason for this police harassment was that on that day, August 8th, 1963, a notorious event took place and that was the "Great Train Robbery"
So, that's how they got the money then.....
