A golden era and iconic guitar in great played shape, a Gibson SG Standard from 1969 complete with original case. THE Angus guitar and a model that over the years has shaped the sounds of so many great Rock 'N Roll records. This example is in fantastic original shape and really looks and sounds the part!

The guitar originality wise is 99% there with the only replaced part being the bottom strap button which arrived to us with a Schaller locking button on. I replaced this with a period correct probably slightly later Gibson button that I had in the spares box. The finish and frets are all original. The finish shows the perfect amount of wear and shows no touchups with some lovely checking throughout and a nice worn headstock front. The logos are notorious for blowing on these due to the way they are constructed however this one is nice and crisp. The frets are low but show plenty of life and the guitar sets well with a decent low action and sounds nice and clear with no choking or buzzing. The neck is nice and straight also with a smooth functioning truss rod.

The hardware and knobs on the guitar are original including the witch hat knobs, walrus tooth vibrola arm and double ring kluson machines heads, all functioning as should. The inlays are lovely on this example and the narrow neck is comfy in the hands and feels awesome. The nut is also all original and not too low over the first fret.

The electronics are original to the guitar with a pair of PAT No humbuckers that sound awesome. Plugged into a Marshall and cranks this has THE sound with no effort at all!

The only area of work on this instrument are a couple of hairline crack repairs at the heel. This is very common with these late '60s instruments and doesn't affect the structural integrity of the guitar at all. The previous dealer who got this guitar from the original owner had the cracks double checked and stabilised just in case by a luthier so they are nothing to worry about, however it is important to note them! See photos for more detail, the cracks are proud at any point and can't be felt It's also worth noting that the wood has never come apart and been broken, the cracks have just appear as the wood has dried out.

The guitar comes with its original hard shell case which unlike many '60s and '70s Gibson cases is super solid! The yellow lining really pops the guitar and it fits really well and is in good shape and working order. The guitar is a perfect weight as you would expect from such a historic guitar and comes in at a hair over 7lb 8oz.

All in all an awesome and very playable vintage classic in great shape. A timeless guitar and something that will stand out in any collection. As with all used guitars this guitar comes with a 6 month warranty as well as having undergone a full a workshop setup and appraisal and is ready to go! Grab this classic today!
