Product Details
Developed by Chet Atkins and luthier Hascal Haile, Gibson released the CE (Classical Electric) in 1982. 25” scale length, solid mahogany chambered body with Cedar or spruce top, it soon became popular amongst pop and rock musicians such as Sting and Mark Knopfler.
The guitar is in great condition. There are a few marks here and there but nothing too substantial. The guitar has been very well cared for. There are a few marks near the bridge.
The neck too is in great condition. The rosewood fretboard is free of any wear and there is plenty of life left in the original frets. The CE has a 1 ⅞” wide nut as opposed to the 2” width which is standard for classical guitars.
Electrically all has been left untouched and is in full working order.
The bridge is in good shape with little sign of wear.
The guitar cokes with its correct Brown tolex hardshell case.
An innovative solution to the problem of amplifying nylon stringed instruments, this guitar is a lot of fun to play. The sound is tighter than a hollow body would produce as you expect but still retains the glorious warmth and punch, ideal for some Bossa.
This is a testament to Chet Atkins’ constant search for tonal improvement. Sometimes a solid bodied nylon string guitar is what you need…
