Description
PRS Custom Shop Masterbuilt 1 of 1 Paul Allender Custom 24 personally built and signed by Paul Reed Smith. The significance of this guitar cannot be understated. It is seen in the 2004 global hit music video and Grammy nominated "Nymphetamine" music video by the British metal band, Cradle of Filth. Think of the legendary PRS Dragon inlay guitar, but now change the dragon to intricate abalone gothic bats running from the headstock all the way down the neck where "Paul Allender" adorns the 24th fret. Interestingly, Paul Reed Smith misspelled Allender's last name on the signed dedication at the back of the headstock as "Allander."

It was unheard of for PRS to grace the world's largest metal stages for a leading guitarist when this was built by Smith for Paul Allender. The guitar was so controversial and sought after that it became a production Custom 24 SE signature model that received the highest reviews and ratings from players. This is the guitar that started it all, where PRS took the leap into the world of extreme metal and made a one-off guitar unlike any in its history. As if Cradle of Filth were not controversial enough, it is completely fair to say that Paul Allender was a pioneer that paved the way for 21st century metal guitarists to break away from the conventional pointy guitar brands and accept more "traditional" brands as completely capable and worthy of making world-class instruments for even the most extreme niche sub-genres of heavy metal music. Anyone alive in the Ozzfest era will remember scratching their head at seeing this exact Paul Reed Smith guitar traveling the world on the biggest main stages on Earth and being played by an extreme metal band. Clearly Paul Allender and CoF were onto something, because the defied all expectations by getting the Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2004 for the song with 78 million streams on YouTube that features this exact guitar! Several pickup changes were incorporated since that video, eventually landing on the EMG coil split humbuckers that would become the pickups of choice for the famous production model. Cradle of Filth are now bigger than ever, having recent collaborations with Bring Me The Horizon and now Ed Sheeran! This is a guitar for the ultimate PRS collector and metal player who demands the most unique, influential and important individual guitar that PRS ever built for the entire genre of metal.
